Windows Clipboard

Windows uses the clipboard as a buffer for copying, cutting and pasting data and information. For example, applications with an EDIT|COPY option will put the selected information on the clipboard. Compatible data types may be shared and copied between applications by using the copy command from one application and the paste command in another.
